When is it worth chartering an aircraft? Five typical situations

Not only for large corporations: a charter can be the right choice when time, the route or the size of the group means a scheduled flight does not offer a suitable solution.

For many people, a charter flight is synonymous with luxury. In practice, however, a 30-seat regional turboprop – such as BASe Airlines’ Embraer 120 ER aircraft – can also be the answer to perfectly ordinary business travel needs. We have collected five typical situations in which it is worth requesting a charter quote.

1. When the destination can only be reached by scheduled flights with a transfer

There are many regional airports in Europe with no direct scheduled connection from Budapest. A one-day business trip can therefore easily turn into two days. With a charter flight, the destination airport can be reached directly.

2. When a whole team travels together

Sports teams, project teams, corporate delegations: for larger groups, it is worth comparing the total cost of scheduled tickets and the organisational risks (transfers, missed connections, scattered seats) with the option of chartering an entire aircraft.

3. When the timetable is not your timetable

A morning meeting and a return trip in the afternoon – scheduled services often only allow a very early or late-evening departure. With a charter flight, the departure time can be adjusted to the customer’s programme, within the limits of airport opening hours and regulatory requirements.

4. When several locations have to be visited in one day

Several sites, several countries: a multi-stop trip is difficult to organise with scheduled flights. Our General Conditions of Carriage specifically provide for charter agreements concluded for the performance of a route or a range of routes.

5. When the cargo travels too

Exhibition materials, instruments, larger items of baggage: on a charter flight, the handling of baggage and cargo can be agreed in advance – within the aircraft’s load limits and the safety regulations.
